he purposes of this research were to analyze, a cost-effectiveness of prenatal care provided by nursing personnel and to compare between mothers of normal birth weight infant and mothers of low birth weight infant who received ANC and deliveried at Maternal and Child Hospital, Nakhonsawan. Using Random Sampling, the research sample comprised of 40 mothers of normal birth weight infants and 20 mothers of low birth weight infant. The tools for this study consisted of an interview concerning demography, an interview concerning expenditure, a questionnaire on selfcare, and a questionnaire to measure a knowledge about pregnancy. The effectiveness to measure nursing outcome were selfcare, knowledge about pregnancy and a number of coming to ANC. Data of cost and demographic were analyzed by descriptive statistics, mean, percentage, standard deviation, median amd inter-quartile range. Score of selfcare, knowledge about pregnancy and a number of coming to ANC were analyzed by independent t-test. The effectiveness and a cost-effectiveness data was analyzed from conception of Arford and Allred,1995.The results showed that a cost of prenatal care on a group of mothers of normal birth weight infant was found of being lower than a groups of mothers of low birth weight infant. Selfcare on mothers of normal birth weight infant was found of being higher than a group of mothers of low birth weight infant at the statistical significance of.05 (p<.05). Knowledge about pregnancy and a number of coming to ANC of mothers of normal birth weight infant higher than a group of mothers of low birth weight infant with none significance. The effectiveness of prenatal care on group of  mothers of normal birth weight infant was found of being better than a group of mothers of low birth weight infant. A cost-effectiveness of prenatal care on a group of mothers of normal birth weight infant was found of being lower than a group of mothers of low birth weight infant.
